A ceilidh, barn dance or folk dance typically takes place in village halls, marquees, hotels, barns, sports centres or any venue where people of all ages can gather together and enjoy dancing to live music.
We have played ceilidhs for private parties (birthdays and anniversaries) and weddings, corporate events, churches, schools, and other community groups including Young Farmers’ Clubs, Parent Teachers Associations, recreational and sports clubs. The beauty of these dances is that they can be enjoyed by all ages. There is usually a break halfway through the ceilidh for refreshments, although we can play one long set.
No dancing experience is necessary. Our caller makes sure that the dances are clearly explained and walked through before the music begins. Dances are selected to fit the occasion and the ability of participants. The emphasis is on having fun. Dances we do include Circassian Circle, the Cumberland Square Eight, the Dashing White Sergeant and Strip the Willow.
For private parties and weddings our sound system can be used to play recorded music.
